On Saturday I had the opportunity to go to the funeral of a fallen hero. I'd never been to a military funeral before, and I have to say that it was quite special. Sgt. Stephens' was much loved.
Not knowing the family, however, and having no personal ties, I was able to focus as a grateful citizen and patriot. It's been a while since I felt such love for my country. The image of Stephens' flag-draped coffin spoke volumes to me. It's as though the flag was embracing the coffin in a show of thankfulness and gratitude.
Sgt. Stephens gave all, and my hope is that his wife will find peace, and that his strong and good family will come to terms with his death.
