Parents Beware: The Golden Compass

A new movie starring Nicole Kidman is aimed at children, and it's coming out in theaters December 7th. The movie itself is pretty innocuous, but the books that inspired 'The Golden Compass' are anything but. Written by an angry athiest, the books are about a quest to kill God, and features strong sexual themes among 13 year olds.

I'm sure some parents will allow their children to go see the movie because, they'll rationalize, that the movie doesn't have any of those controversial themes. Problem is, they'll cave to the children's subsequent pleas to buy and read the books and then the mission is accomplished.

By the way, even the books start out pretty mild and progressively become more graphic. It's become a devious pattern that we witnessed in the Harry Potter series and (oddly enough) Brittney Spears' career. I'm sure other examples are out there.

This attempt to warm our kids up to atheism and secular humanism is despicable, and should be opposed at every turn.
