When you try to defend those who are less than virtuous because of your “elect ability” argument you seriously damage the ideal of voting for some one based upon principles (like a hair do, a nice jaw, or a great oracle delivery mean anything, I guess they do to those who have itchy ears). You said today that elect ability is a principle.????? I think you have tied yourself into a knot, principles are self evident unchanging eternal truths, not supports to a theory regarding political campaigning. The real principle behind campaigning and choosing a proper candidate is “by their fruits ye shall know them” not by their elect ability ye shall know them, that idea articulated in print should make sense to you. You seem like a bright guy, but your rhetoric about Ron Paul doesn’t match the constitutional moorings that you seem to articulate when you speak of all the problems we have in America and how to fix them , you sound just like Beck, you both seem to have a disconnect. If Ron Paul is unelectable that is really saying something about the shallowness of our society, and bears testimony to our place in history. Our country is based upon idealistic principles and we should continue to strive for this ideal especially now that it is slipping away from us. Getting back to our roots ASAP sounds too idealistic but it is exactly what we need, otherwise we will be in the grips of a history that is not kind to those who so not heed its warnings. You really need to think hard about what you are saying in relation to the talents you have received from God and the stewardship he has placed in your hands. You have a great pulpit to do good from, but to teach false and foolish doctrine from it would be foolish indeed. We need a voice of reason in our effort to restore the republic.
This afternoon you were talking about you cold sore and how the cure seems worse than the disease, well it usually is, and our cure is going to be tough medicine, but we must swallow it or the disease will kill us without doubt. This movement needs a leader, right now that leader is Dr. Ron Paul albeit he may not be “elect able” he is willing and knowledgeable and has the consistent fruits to prove it. God will judge him and us by our fruits and works not by our ability or elect ability. Remember that principle, you can take it to the bank( just don’t expect it to be worth much in federal reserve notes).Ron Paul is the man of the hour the year and the future if we are wise enough to utilize him and his message.

As for the war in Iraq, I’ll let Spencer Kimball do my preaching for me…….

Thanks for the ear and may God enlighten us all, and show mercy wile we don’t get it.

1976 confernce talk by Pres. Kimball
We are a warlike people, easily distracted from our assignment of preparing for the coming of the Lord. When enemies rise up, we commit vast resources to the fabrication of gods of stone and steel -- ships, planes, missiles, fortifications -- and depend on them for protection and deliverance. When threatened, we become antienemy instead of pro-kingdom of God; we train a man in the art of war and call him a patriot, thus, in the manner of Satan's counterfeit of true patriotism, perverting the Savior's teaching:
"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:44-45).
We forget that if we are righteous the Lord will either not suffer our enemies to come upon us -- and this is the special promise to the inhabitants of the land of the Americas (see 2 Nephi 1:7) -- or he will fight our battles for us (Exodus 14:14; D&C 98:37, to name only two references of many). This he is able to do, for as he said at the time of his betrayal, "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53). We can imagine what fearsome soldiers they would be. King Jehoshaphat and his people were delivered by such a troop (see 2 Chronicles 20), and when Elish's life was threatened, he comforted his servant by saying, "Fear not; for they that be with us are more than they that be with them" (2 Kings 6:16). The Lord then opened the eyes of the servant, "And he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha" (vs 17).
What are we to fear when the Lord is with us? Can we not take the Lord at his word and exercise a particle of faith in him? Our assignment is affirmative: to forsake the things of the world as ends in themselves; to leave off idolatry and press forward in faith; to carry the gospel to our enemies, that they might no longer be our enemies.
We must leave off the worship of modern-day idols and a reliance on the "arm of flesh," for the Lord has said to all the world in our day, "I will not spare any that remain in Babylon" (D&C 64:24).

Neal,

Instead of trashing the car, realize that it still is the only one that has something under the hood. Help it get some wheels.

Ron Paul may not be pretty, but he's still the only one that understands all the issues facing us, has a vision to address them, and requests personal responsibility from the American citizens to help accomplish the vision.

1. Don't steal images off my website (you will note it stopped working right before I posted this.)

2. Especially not to denigrate the only reasonable Republican candidate. Paul has my vote in my state's primary, and in Nov 08 ... but somehow I doubt the party has the balls to nominate a man who would actually take the oath of office seriously.

It has already been proven that the current President has violated that oath, many times over.
