Union officials are up in arms because State Schools Chief Tom Luna is offering teachers a new option: give up their job security for higher pay. I've always believed that the individual employee performance is the best employment safeguard, and confident and talented teachers won't need the protection of tenure, and they should get paid more. Yet another example of the left despising the peasants having more choices.

Why should teachers get tenure? Either they are doing their job, or they are not. If they get tenure and they are not doing their job, we can't remove them. Who do they think they are working for?
