I can't get this conspiracy theory out of my head about the bowling alley smoking ban. It was suggested on my show by Jill Kuraitis Thursday that the bowling alley owners actually wanted the legislature to ban smoking, so they wouldn't have to anger their loyal patrons. Essentially, the theory goes, the legislature was made to be the bad guy.
I will admit the bowling alley owners were quite silent about the ban. I couldn't get any to return my phone calls, so clearly they weren't terribly passionate about drumming up support for stopping the ban.
Maybe I don't watch enough tv, but I didn't see any vocal bowling alley owners railing the effort.
I should have caught on a little earlier than this.
Secondly, I'm a little put out by it. I took a good two shows to promote private property rights for people who may not have cared or wanted to assert them.
In fact, I think we have a new political tool. Perhaps Wal-mart can get the legislature to ban tube tops, tattooed fat people, and people who have fewer teeth than fingers, so they don't have to.
